Nerio Gutiérrez Ross

Más sobre Nerio

Born in Caracas in the early 1970s, he experienced the country’s first truly autonomous rock and pop musical movements as a teenager.

In this climate, he took his first steps into the world of audio and was captivated from that moment on.

During his studies at the Taller de Arte Sonoro (Sound Art Workshop), he met José Maria Casas, who would become his first guide in the world of audio.

In 1991, he had the fabulous opportunity to work with the country’s first workstation, a fledgling Pro Tools that didn’t even have a name at the time.

Within a few years, he had become a digital audio specialist and had garnered awards for his experimentation with various creative groups.

In 1994, he began his career as a digital post-production specialist, serving as head of the post-production department at Joensa Estudios, one of the leading studios with the largest production capacity in the Venezuelan capital.

That same year, he entered the world of live performance, meeting Harold Barber, among other greats.

He has toured countless national and international artists, performing on stage and on-air experiences, and combined live sound recordings for renowned series.

At Canal Uno, he set up the audio post-production department, where he was responsible for overseeing a system that was intended to compete with ProTools and was produced by Studer. The system was called Dyaxis.

Heading Canal Uno’s post-production department, he post-produced up to eight hours of on-air television per week for clients in both Venezuela and the United States.

Having established himself as a specialist in his field during this period, he began a new career as an audio consultant for all types of clients.

In 2000, he considered emigrating and chose Spain as his destination country.

He worked for over 11 years as a sound technician at New Atlantis Line, where he had the opportunity to participate in all kinds of productions, share the stage with directors such as Daniel Calparsoro, and work on television series such as “La Pecera de Eva” and high-end documentaries.

He was also associated with the publishing company New Atlantis Music, providing musical content for fiction series, documentaries, and entertainment programs. He is currently dedicated exclusively to the management and development of Playground Estudio.

At Playground, he has had the opportunity to work with renowned artists such as David Feito (El sueño de Morfeo) and Leire (La Oreja de Van Gogh), with directors such as Marcel Rasquin of the film Hermano, and as a sound designer for the series Hero Kids.
